Adeje (Tenerife), February 26 .- Adeje Town Council has initiated a pioneering community mediation service in the Canary Islands to consolidate the politics "of local coexistence in a complex society, where it is needed a neutral party that specializes in the resolution of conflict" said Mayor Jose Miguel Rodriguez Fraga.
Fraga Rodriguez was accompanied at a news conference by the Security council, Carmen Nieves Rodriguez, the mayor of Youth, Nayra Bethencourt and professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Jordi Crane.
This service has trained eight mediators, all psychologists, who have already started work.
There is an information campaign to different groups and neighborhood associations.
Grain showed "the policy of humanization" of the local public administration and I appreciate the bet "by the conflict resolution" for better coexistence.
The mediators intervene in neighboring communities and other youth issues.
It will be a free and confidential.
In 2007 and 2008 Community mediation was discussed in Adeje Summer University through the University of La Laguna.
The City Council seeks the promotion of social contexts that enhance the living, autonomy in conflict resolution, identify needs and propose solutions, and understanding and intercultural dialogue.
"Betting on coexistence is one of the objectives we seek in the social policies of equality," the mayor said. 1010369
